For the beauty of the earth, For the beauty of the skies,
For the love which from our birth Over and around us lies,
Lord of all, to thee we raise This our grateful hymn of praise.

Camp Mom--Day 4--Final Day

With Thing 1 coming back tomorrow morning, not to mention a doctor's appointment for Braniac before that, today was to be our last day of Camp Mom. You should, at this point, be preparing yourself to look at myriad photos from the San Diego Zoo. Unfortunately, our trip was preempted.

We got off to a late start, then within a span of 5 minutes, two glasses broke in the kitchen, one full of water. After cleaning that mess up, we finally started off. We decided we'd stop at BJ's for GF pizza at lunchtime before we went to the zoo.

So, once ensconced in our booth at BJ's in Escondido, Braniac and Thing 2 dutifully went to work on their word searches. They don't actually do them the traditional ways. They just go through and circle letters for their names and other words. I suppose it's creative. ;D

Once Babycakes was forced into his high chair, strapped down, and calm enough that we didn't think he needed a tranquilizer, he dutifully played with his cars and drank some raspberry lemonade.

When we were done Thing 2 started to complain of a tummy ache. Then he promptly vomited on the concrete out front of the restaurant. Sorry, I don't have a picture of that. :P But here they are after the decision has been made to skip the zoo and go home. I promised an afternoon of laying on the floor and watching movies.

But, by the time we got home, it became obvious that it was only motion sickness combined with a bit too much lemonade & GF Pizookie.  So instead the kids swam while I did my bible study. Love my portable Mom Cave. ;D

And, because I believe that nothing ever happens without a really good reason, it rained. OK, I know that's vague, but it almost never rains here in the summer. If we'd been at the zoo, feeding the giraffes, we'd have missed what is probably the only rain we'll see here until winter. :)

We spent a little time, um, worshiping? lol, in the rain. The kids thought it was pretty unusual to be so warm while the moisture fell from the sky. It's usually terribly cold, and when the clouds part there's a ton of snow in the mountains. :)

Once they were done running in the rain, they decided to jump in the rain. :)

All in all, it turned out to be a pretty decent day, despite not being able to spend our last day of  "camp" at the zoo. But, last I heard, the zoo isn't going anywhere, so we'll make a try to feed the giraffes again next month.

As an aside, I will be mentioning the 30 Days of Prayer for the Muslim World for the next few days. It begins on the 20th. The guides are not that expensive, though if you are local I can pick you up one from our church and get it to you if you're interested. After it starts I will probably mostly mention it on Instagram because I will be out of town with the kids. Off on our annual trip to visit my grandmother in TX.
