For the beauty of the earth, For the beauty of the skies,
For the love which from our birth Over and around us lies,
Lord of all, to thee we raise This our grateful hymn of praise.

AWANA Grand Prix--Take 1

Tonight was our first round of AWANA Grand Prix. I say first because we have four kids in the lower levels so we get to go to all the races. :)

On this first night, Braniac and Thing 2 were racing.

Thing 2 with Sparky before the race.

Braniac with Cubby and Puggle. It will be interesting to see if Babycakes lets me take his pic with Puggle next week. (Don't hold your breath.)

Checking out the awards table. (We got Honorable Mention. Everyone basically got Honorable Mention. :D)

There were a lot of cars. I thought I estimated 50, but I think I guessed wrong. :)

Braniac raced first.

His car is the second from the left.

Waiting for his car at the end of the track.

Back to the holding area for #21.

Waiting to go another round.

Rewarded for participation. That's OK, he'll get High Honors at Bible Quiz when he's in T&T. ;)

Next up was Thing 2

Racing #54.

He was sure he'd at least get something. He always does in class. But racing ain't like using your brain. So we got a nice ribbon instead. We'll have to study up on how to make the fastest car. He did come really close, in his heat, but close, well, you know. :)

All in all it was a great night. I know a lot of work went into it. I'm sure that's why I'm exhausted...I've been thinking of all the work that went into it. ;)

Just about 2 mos left of our first year of AWANA. The kids are still as thrilled as they were at the beginning (if not as obsessed. ;)). It's been a great experience. We are so fortunate to live near a church that has all the levels from Puggles through Journey. The kids think so, too. They plan out when they are going to be in each group (T&T, Trek, etc). I asked Braniac, who loves to run around the house singing Christian rock songs at the top of his lungs (current fave is God's Not Dead by Newsboys), if he was going to be a Christian rock star some day. He replied, "Yes, but I have to be in Trek first." :D

We've been making some really good friends. And have even decided to make this church our home. The whole thing has been one huge blessing and we are very grateful to God for bringing us into this situation. :)
